Role Purpose

Our Systems Engineers work on a wide range of tasks throughout the lifecycle of a product, from initial opportunity development with customers, through design development to production and beyond.

We are looking for high calibre Lead Verification Engineers who have a wealth of relevant experience in aerospace or other technical and regulated domains. As a key member of a Project Team, they will work with other subject matter experts to plan and deliver our Verification, Validation, Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) activities for the programme.

The Systems Verification Lead role has two main aspects, both focused around capability growth and project execution, namely to:

Drive capability improvement across all projects in the area Verification, Validation and ITEA; and
Support project execution by leading and managing the Verification, Validation and ITEA activities for the allocated project/s.

The Systems Verification Lead will work closely with the systems leadership team to drive functional growth, while working across functions on projects to ensure verification activities are managed in an effective and efficient way that serves the needs of the project teams. The role may involve leading individuals on the projects in a functional capacity to ensure project needs are met.

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • A recognised technology based degree, supported by sufficient relevant experience to prove application of Systems Engineering principles across the product lifecycle, with specific expertise in Verification and Acceptance
  • A proven track record in leading verification activities in complex projects and driving process improvements across the engineering function
  • Good technical knowledge of one or more of the following would be desirable: airborne radar, electronic warfare, surveillance, networking and communications systems
  • Experience in requirements management tools such as DOORS (ideally DOORS Next Generation)
  • Experience working with test management tools such as JIRA/DOORS RQM
  • Knowledge of environmental standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810)
  • Experience of performing environmental and functional testing
  • Change management, project management and technical authoring skills
  • Able to mentor and coach engineers, to increase knowledge in verification activities and approaches, with a specific focus on verification through analysis and inspection methods
  • Proven experience in Systems Engineering within a safety critical industry, ideally with experience of ARP4754A
  • Experience working in an environment where the team are located in different locations
  • All applicants must have or be able to obtain Security Clearance

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the Verification, Validation and Acceptance (ITEA) activities of assigned project/s
  • Manage, facilitate, aid governance and progressively update the Verification Validation Reference Matrix (VVRM) – also known as the Verification Cross
  • Reference Matrix (VCRM)
  • Manage verification activities within IBM’s Quality Manager, with close alignment with the requirements team
  • Focus on driving consistency across all projects for Verification, Validation and ITEA, aligning to industry best practice
  • Generation of metrics to report the status of verification maturity as the projects progress through development
  • Preparation of artefacts to support Engineering Design Reviews
  • Lead a team of engineers to achieve Verification, Validation and ITEA activities to cost and schedule, including reporting status
  • Planning, arranging and attending integration and verification activities
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and test houses in the planning and execution of functional and non-functional test programmes
  • Development of systems management plans, including verification, validation and qualification plans
  • Management of test baselines and review/interpretation of the results.
  • Customer and supplier facing responsibilities to discuss and agree systems Verification, Validation and ITEA activities
  • Ensure the team are strictly adhering to process and ensure processes are continuously improved to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Providing expert advice and guidance across the discipline, including guidance on Verification, Validation and ITEA activities, with expertise in analysis and inspection approaches
  • Identifying opportunities for productivity and cost improvements
  • Protect the Intellectual Property Rights of the company
  • Ensure effective knowledge management approaches are embedded
  • Ensure effective lessons learned approaches are utilised, to capture information and ensure our processes are subject to continuous improvement
