Chelton are looking for a Programme Engineering Manager to join our projects team to work closely with the Programme Manager and Systems Design Authority. In this role you will be responsible for engineering planning and execution activities within technically complex programmes. 

We are looking for a proactive individual with a proven track record in leading technical activity in a complex project with the ability to provide instruction to engineers and good project management skills. 

This role will be based at our offices in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SL7. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of system level engineering planning and directing planning definition at lower level.
  • Deliver planning and execution activities, working with the Systems Design Authority
  • Ensure the governance structure is defined and maintained
  • Report progress to Programme Management and stakeholders
  • Support and/or lead internal design reviews and customer meetings; including document preparation
  • Work with the Programme Manager to define and manage project scope within budget and timeframes
  • Direct, motivate and provide leadership for the project technical leads and the broader engineering team
  • Identify, specify and manage demand for engineering resource
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Design Office, Production Organisation and Maintenance Organisation 
  • Integrate project outputs, turning capabilities into required outcomes 
  • Identifies potential problems and provide resolutions 
  • Ensure effective lessons learned approaches are utilised 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organising, decision making and influencing skills
  • Good leadership and collaboration skills, capable of forming effective teams
  • Able to technically mentor engineers
  • Desire to drive change through continuous improvement activities
  • Comfortable reporting and presenting to internal and external stakeholders 
  • Experience of working with offshore and on-shore sub-contractors
  • Experience in Project Management tools
  • Good understanding of risk and configuration management
    Extensive experience in technical report writing
  • Technology based degree or equivalent, supported by sufficient experience to drive application of broad engineering across lifecycle
