An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the newly formed Chelton Avionics Business Unit as a Principal Engineer. This Business Unit develops the next generation of Chelton’s cutting-edge direction finding and GPS protection devices.

As a Principal Engineer, you will help drive the introduction of new products and assist in developing a range of novel processing techniques in support of anti-jamming, direction finding, and beam-forming applications. Your role will involve a range of research, data analysis and market-driven product development activities.

You will be working in the Avionics Business Unit alongside a multi-discipline team of Engineers, in an Agile based engineering approach. 

This role will be based at our Head Office in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. 

Responsibilities

  • Design novel electronic communication equipment for the aviation and military industries.
  • Simulation and modelling of RF systems using latest toolsets
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to create high performance products
  • Requirements capture, allocation, derivation, validation and verification.
  • Contribute to the design of system, sub-system and equipment architecture definition, design and analysis
  • Preparation of technical specification and other project documentation.
  • Preparation and presentation of technical design reviews.
  • Support preparation of technical estimates for non-recurring costs and manpower requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Senior/ Principal/ Technical Lead engineer providing technical guidance in support of a projects
  • Experience of taking concept through to completion.
  • Willing to apply a hands on approach
  • Experience with Laboratory test equipment: Spectrum Analyser, Signal Analyser, Signal Generator, and Oscilloscope.
  • Design experience and/or appreciation of the following areas:
    • RF & Microwave design e.g. low noise front-end receivers
    • Use of tools such as Keysight ADS/AWR Microwave Office/CST, Altium & PSpice
    • RF Up/down conversion
    • RF sampling ADC / DAC
    • Interfaces such as RS232/422, UART, SPI, I2C, JESD204B
