We are looking for a Project Planning Manager that will be based at our head office in Marlow. If you have previous experience in implementing Primavera enterprise into a complex project business and can provide strong leadership to developing the company’s planning and controlling culture, you may be exactly what we are looking for.

As a Project Planning Manager at Chelton Ltd, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for implementing an enterprise solution into the company, developing common methodologies and controls to guide projects and programmes to successful completion. You will be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport internally as well as with clients, contractors and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent and demonstrable Leadership, communication and time management skills as well as a strong will to get things done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation and administration of the Planning enterprise solution
  • Lead planning activity and develop schedules in line with planning and reporting best practice
  • Provide expert planning advice for team members and project community
  • Challenge and test project assumptions to ensure plans are realistic and achievable
  • Support the project/programme manager to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, levelling and rescheduling of activities as well as creating “what if” programmes for consideration
  • Ensure clear translation of project requirements, constraints and prerequisites within programme schedule
  • Ensure stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements
  • Monitor and analyse information; report progress, slippage and highlight areas of risk and opportunity
  • Provide expert advice on planning processes throughout project lifecycle
  • Provide Earned value reporting for Business units and major programmes
  • Develop the planning and controls service offering relevant to business and programme requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a planning manager or a senior planner 
  • Demonstrable experience planning major projects within a technical environment
  • Expert user of Primavera planning tools and methodologies
  • Experience in implementing and developing planning through an organisation
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present technical and complex information concisely at appropriate level to target audience
  • Work effectively under pressure and time constraints in a fast paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Experience managing and influencing internal and client interfaces
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • Relevant degree within a technical, business or Project Management field

A career gained within military or defence sector would be advantageous as would experience of managing CAT 2 & 3 projects and a relevant PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification.

The successful candidate must be able to gain security clearance.
