Chelton is looking for a Senior Software
Engineer to join the Avionics Business Unit on a permanent basis at our Marlow
headquarters, actively involved in the development of our world beating Aerospace Equipment, ranging from
Search & Rescue Direction Finders, Anti-Jam GNSS products, Radio Transceivers and Phased Array
Antenna’s.
The successful candidate will likely have the following skills and
experience:
Skills and qualifications
- Proven record of designing and developing embedded software projects to deliver successful
outcomes on time and within budget
- Wide range of experience with and knowledge of mission critical systems
- Demonstrable experience working directly with customers
- Solid understanding of software development life-cycles, processes and methodologies,
including software configuration management
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills
- Behavioural: self-starting, adaptable, problem solving and able to work closely with
engineers from other disciplines
Essential competencies
- Proficient in C/C++ (demonstrated by experience)
- Experience in embedded software development
- Experience using real-time embedded operating systems
- Experience in software design and software life-cycle management
- Familiarity with the product lifecycle from system requirements, architecture, design,
integration, qualification, verification, through to production and support
- Creative and innovative problem solver, self-starter who is eager to learn and
develop
Desirable competencies
- Understanding and appreciation of Configuration Management and Quality Assurance
principles
- Knowledge of aviation regulatory standards for software: DO-178
- Experience of Agile development methods
- Experience programming peripheral interfaces via embedded interconnect technologies such as
SPI and I2C
- Experience with Visual Studio and C# for tool/test development
- Experience with working within a regulated background and adherence to
standards
- Experience with Atlassian tools for collaboration and issue tracking
